External Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specialist to play a key role within the Financial Reporting & Control team, reporting to and working closely with the Financial Reporting & Control Lead.

You will be responsible for ensuring an appropriate financial reporting control framework is in place for the company, certifying that the financial reporting is reliable covering both IFRS and Solvency II.  In addition, you will play an active role in the development and improvement of the Operational Risk and Control Management (ORCM) Framework across General Insurance (GI) Finance.

You will be delivering/supporting delivery of outputs for the CFO, Audit Committee, the Board and Aviva Group. The role will work closely with wider Aviva Group colleagues and offers excellent opportunities to interact with senior management and stakeholders across the wider business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Working with management to identify key controls across the various financial reporting processes
  • Assessment (documentation and testing) of key controls to determine if they are adequately designed and operating as expected
  • Reporting of approach and results to the CFO, Board and Audit Committee
  • Supporting the Finance team in developing and embedding an ORCM framework

Skills & Experience required:

  • Strong experience in financial services and financial reporting
  • Strong regulatory reporting and control testing skills
  • Accounting skills - a qualified accountant would be advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to challenge senior leadership and the status quo
  • Verbal and presentation skills with the ability to present complex issues
  • Proven track record of delivery within tight timelines
  • Attention to detail
  • Stakeholder engagement experience, from process delivery through to insightful outputs
